The Hellenic Society for Bookbinding has so far brought out the following publications:
Babis Legas and Niki Tsironis, The Art of Bookbinding: Treasures of the City of Ioannina, Ioannina 2003.
Vivlioamphiastis 1
The first volume in the periodical edition on Hellenic Bookbinding, Vivlioamphiastis, was published on the initiative of Babis Legas, bookbinder and president of the Hellenic Society for Bookbinding (which was founded three years later), and with the participation of distinguished figures of letters and the arts.
Its scholarly innovation was to engage with the subject of Hellenic Bookbinding. Nowadays it seems natural to refer to the Hellenic tradition of this art, but a decade ago, given the lack of scholarly studies on the art of bookbinding past and present, the term was in jeopardy. Nevertheless, the studies written by authoritative researchers in the field of the history, science and art of the book, have shown that we can indeed speak of Hellenic bookbinding, and that the study of its history is a difficult undertaking, principally as regards terminology, but that it is also exceptionally useful, as it adds valuable pieces to the puzzle in forming a picture of the history of the book and of Greek civilization.
Vivlioamphiastis 2:
The second volume in the Vivlioamphiastis series, published under the aegis of the Hellenic Society for Bookbinding, revealed new aspects in the history of bookbinding, giving emphasis principally to the interactive role this art played in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The volume includes studies on questions relating to the technique of bookbinding during Byzantine, post-Byzantine and modern times, important binders, and bookbinding workshops of the past, as well as the teaching of bookbinding.
Vivlioamphiastis 3:
The third volume of Vivlioamphiastis contains the proceedings of the International Conference entitled ''The Book in Byzantium: Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Bookbinding'' which was held as part of the research programme of the same name. The three institutions involved in the programme and that organised the conference (The Hellenic Society for Bookbinding, the Institute for Byzantine Research at the Hellenic National Research Foundation, and the Byzantine and Christian Museum) decided that the proceedings should be published as the third volume in the series, leading to their incorporation into the body of research on Greek bookbinding.
The papers published in the third volume of Vivlioamphiastis are either on more theoretical subjects such as the Byzantine school, and books in dreams, or articles focusing on the study of particular collections and thematic units.
