Photography competition

The National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF) in collaboration with
the Centre for Research and Technology - Thessaly (CE.RE.TE.TH) and
the Democritus University of Thrace,
invites you to participate in a Photography Competition under the theme:

''Portrait of (a) Researcher(s)''

This competition is implemented in the framework of the ''Researcher’s Night 2008'' initiative, funded by the European Commission.

The aim of the competition is to bring researchers closer to the public and demystify their profession.

The deadline for submission has been extended until 24 September 2008.
ATTENTION: All photographs must be submitted until the above date at least in digital format.

Terms and Conditions

• Participation is free and open to any greek or foreighn citizen, amateur or professional photographers, students of photography, fine arts, graphic arts etc. Participants will be divided in 3 groups:
  • Primary school students (Group 1)
  • Elementary school students (Group 2)
  • Adults (Group 3)
• Participants should only submit ONE photograph in 3 copies and digital format. Photos should be 20x30cm
• The original photographs submitted must comprise exclusive work of the individual submitting them and must not relate to any other existing photographic material (internet, books, etc).
  (Participants will be asked to sign a declaration of originality)
• Black & white photos will also be accepted
• The photos will not be returned and the contestants grant the right to the organizers to publish, exhibit or print the photographs for any occasion, except commercial use, always mentioning the name of the owner.
• The photographs will be exhibited, by the organizing institutions, in particularly dedicated areas as from September 25th.
• Photogrpahs will be evaluated by a special committee and winners will be announced during the events hosted by the institutions involved, on September 26th 2008 (Researchers' Night). The results of the competition will also be published on the websites of the institutions involved.
• A winner from each of the three groups will be awarded a trip to Brussels to participate in the pan-European photo competition. Additionally, two winners from each group will be awarded prizes that will be announced during the following days at the NHRF's website (www.eie.gr)
